2013 Nissan Maxima Camshaft Sensor March 12, 2016 Jeremy Turner 0 Comments 2013 Nissan Maxima Camshaft Sensor We pulled a code for the camshaft sensor on bank 1 of the engine on a 2013 Nissan Maxima. The code was P0340: Camshaft Position Senor Circuit Bank 1. The problem is that there are two camshaft sensors for each bank. Camshaft position sensor reads a mark on the camshaft as it spins and relays the information to the powertrain control module (PCM). The PCM uses the camshaft sensor information along with the crankshaft sensor information to adjust the timing. If the sensors fail the car will run poorly or it will cause the car to stall. In 2013 the Nissan Maxima had four camshaft sensors. The reason is that the Maxima has four camshafts. It has two intake camshafts and two exhaust camshafts. These engines are commonly called dual overhead cam systems. The problem is that P0340 doesn’t indicate which sensor it is on bank 1.
